The True Weight Loss Secret You’ve Been Waiting For

It’s finally summertime, and you know what that means! It’s time for vacations, BBQs, and a promise to yourself to get in better shape. Every summer the same thing happens. Sometime in April or May you decide that you’re never going to feel self-conscious on the beach again, so you commit to a new dietary plan. You sign up for the gym, buy tons of workout clothes, and start using Weight Watchers and taking supplements. You stick to things for a few days and then everything comes to a halt.

This summer is going to be different. No more broken promises, no more t-shirts at the beach, and no more halfhearted declarations that you at least “tried.” Just follow the below steps and shed the pounds for good.

Accept that there’s no easy fix

Weight loss shakes aren’t going to make you shed pounds, a magical wrap isn’t going to shrink your waist and eating nothing other than kale and lemon will upset your stomach and do nothing for your health. There is no simple way to lose weight and keep it off. It’s going to require a complete lifestyle change that you have to adhere to. Once you accept that you’re going to have to make sacrifices and won’t feel comfortable 100% of the time, you’ll be truly ready to lose weight.

Don’t go crazy with exercise

Do you know why so many people have gym memberships they don’t use? It’s because they go for a week and strain their muscles on machines, get worn out, and stop going. If you’re new to fitness, you’re doing more harm than good by setting high exercise goals. Don’t start off trying to run 3 miles in 20 minutes, walking a mile in 20 minutes can be just as good. Start off simple, and gradually add more activity after you feel more comfortable.

Don’t diet

There is no diet that will help you lose weight, mainly because diets just don’t work in the long run. Of course you’ll lose weight when you’re only drinking liquids or eating cabbage, your body won’t gain weight when you’re barely eating. You run into trouble when you go back to your normal eating habits, which is why you need to focus on changing the way you eat. Make better choices, and make high calorie and fatty foods a treat.

Research and revamp

A lot of people think that you have to live off of celery and lettuce if you want to lose weight, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. You can eat plenty of satisfying and flavorful foods; you just have to cook them! Health and nutrition articles and blogs will be full of healthy and delicious recipes you can use. Look for recipes that feature plenty of vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats. When you start to eat high fiber low calorie foods, you’ll start to natural feel fuller.
